“The Trail Starts Here”
Ellis House boasts an amazing location and stay with amenities that will make your visit to Hatfield McCoy Trails truly unforgettable. We are in the heart of the Hatfield and McCoy Trail System and home to nationally acclaimed TRAILFEST. Newly established in August 2019, Ellis House is beyond excited to offer a competitive level of service, amenities, and accommodations at the region's MOST convenient location.
- Idyllically situated at the mouth of Rockhouse on the Gilbert Community Connector (Trail 12)--mere tire tracks away from 92 miles of some of the most versatile trails and difficulty levels that Hatfield McCoy has to offer.
- Located on the north end of town--within city limits--along a creek and straight across the road from the Gilbert Connector. There is no travel time, trailering, or towing to reach the trail entrance. It is within walking distance of Pizzamingo Restaurant and Trail 12 BBQ and Twin Hollow Campground are just across the road on top of the mountain. It is also only a one to two minute ATV ride to downtown and other nearby restaurants and shops.
- Easy in, easy out entry with ability to pull straight in and out with no tight maneuvering of your trailer or towing equipment. Graveled parking area joins a paved driveway to give guests 110 X 35 feet of parking.
- The closest trail access—-approximately 60 yards— means Ellis House guests have more time to explore the nearly 100 miles of scenic trails on Rock House, embark on a historic journey down the winding paths of Devil Anse or Buffalo, enjoy a delicious meal at one of Gilbert's fine eating establishments, or relax and unwind at the end of an exciting day around the creekside fire pit.
Testimonials
I probably shouldn't tell you what a amazing place this is so that way I can book my next trip. But here we go this place is the cleanest nicest place I've stayed at in a long time. The owners are the nicest people I think you will ever meet. They were more then happy to answer and help us with any questions we had and got our riding permits supplied us with very good maps. Honestly my whole family can't stop talking about what great people they are. Truly the best place to stay for a large group or family!!!

We spent weeks researching a place to stay to ride the Hatfield & McCoys that was able to not only sleep 10+ guys, but comfortably. After finding Ellis House online , we knew we found the one. Once arriving, it did not disappoint, extremely clean, well taken care of and you could smell how clean the bed linens and towels were! Easy booking, all the amenities, spacious enough for 10 guys with privacy, the list goes on. Conveniently located DIRECTLY across from the Rock House trail head, with a grocery store, auto parts store, ATV wash, fuel station, pizza shops, gift shops, etc. just a mile down the road. The owners checked in with us via text every day to see if we needed anything and without surprise we didn't. They had everything well stocked before our arrival. I could not recommend this place enough! The owners are GREAT!

This was a great place to stay for our trip to ride the HMT trails. The house was spacious, well stocked, clean and had a great location close to both the town and the trails. Large parking area, and a great setup outside the house as well with chairs, firepit, and even cornhole game for a relaxing evening. Donnie and Robin were great hosts. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in Gilbert even if you aren't riding the trails. Very relaxing atmosphere.

Just got back from a three day stay at Ellis House. It is a great place to stay. It is located across the street from the entrance to the trail connector in Gilbert. The house was clean and well maintained with plenty of towels and other essentials provided, Donnie and Robin are great folks who did everything they could to make sure we had a great stay. The cornhole boards are a nice added touch that kept us entertained after a day of riding. If you are riding The Rockhouse trail system I highly recommend this as a place to stay.
